Staff Member on the member cruise

I was fortunate enough to be able to go on the 1st annual Point To Point Member Cruise, as a staff member from PTP.
For me this was an amazing opportunity, as I had never been to Mexico!! Also this was my FIRST CRUISE EVER!
First stop was PVR. Wow what a place! I had heard that it was very touristy, but I found it quite nice and not overly crowded. We did tour the city a bit and had a lovely dinner, after our outing on a local party boat!It was an all day excursion on a chartered tour, complete with snorkeling and kayaking. I had no idea about this whole ‘excursion’ thing, but quickly learned that you better be swift on the ship in deciding what you want to do and get it booked! All the excursions fill up quick! I found it reasonably priced as well.
And what a time we had!!! The guides were so fun and full of energy and got us all into the whole spirit of the day! After snorkeling (or as the locals say “do thee es’snorkle”) and paddling around a near perfect spot…they gave us a nice lunch, and opened the bar! FREE bar I might add. Then they took us to a beautiful secluded beach with just us. very cool! and of course more drinks! On the way back they had the whole boatload of us dancing and singing on the deck of the boat. fun fun :)
Next stop…..
Mazatlan. Went out & about in the city, just shopping and taking it easy, no excursions for this stop. This area was a great spot for buying silver! Found this amazing little shop and got most of my x-mas shopping done right there on the spot! After that we hit the beach….that was an experience. We found that it was much easier to actually make your way across the beach when you stay “above the tourist only line”. I couldn’t believe there was such a thing….a tourist only line on a beach??? But it was needed; after you do buy a few things from the locals on the beach, you absolutely get swamped and overwhelmed. But still a fun experience.
Last stop was CABO! This was by far, my favorite! Although quite touristy, I really enjoyed it and loved the beaches.  I got quite a few good photos here of the beautiful scenery, the locals, the beaches and of course our huge cruise ship out in the middle of the water. wow, what a site. And the rock formations there were truly amazing.
And about the cruise ship itself…. I really enjoyed it, and found all the staff so friendly and helpful. They brought fresh coffee to our room every morning and when we got back to our rooms at night, there were always cool towel animals waiting on our beds for us! :)
At night on the ship there was so much to do, from entertainment/live shows to the casino, and on the top deck there was always live music and you could dance the night away! You could really roam around, it was so huge I couldn’t believe it. Another cool part I enjoyed was the photo gallery type part of the ship. You could go there and get your photos taken by pro photographers, OR even better…..you could look through all the pics they had posted up on the walls, to see if one of the many photographers had captured you or your family/friends during the days activities!!! There were walls and walls of smiling vacationers! too fun!
This experience for me was very special because not only was it a time of ‘many firsts’ for me…but I also got to mingle with my fellow staff members and get to know them better, and OF COURSE meet & mingle all our members that were having fun on the cruise!
I have so many fond memories of my 2007 cruise and so many Pricless photos to remind me how important it is to hit that refresh button! Funny thing about me….I even kept the TEXT MESSAGE I got from ‘Rogers’ saying “Welcome to Mexico”. For some reason I got such a kick out of that! haha. All said and done, I would definitely recommend a cruise, and actually I am in the process of trying to convince my folks to hurry up and get themselves on one of those amazing floating hotels!

Great Vacation Story From Jamaica

Went to Jamaica with my Point To Point Destinations RCI Points. If you have never been to Jamaica; go, you’ll love it. We stayed at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios Beach. The resort number in the RCI Catalogue is 4040. I would highly recommend this resort it was beautiful. The rooms were large, clean, king size beds. We stayed in a large one bedroom. The pool is very large with a swim up bar.

The staff at the Resort were so friendly and funny and by the end of the trip, they were like old friends. We looked forward to seeing them everyday. They even gave me some dance lessons on how to dance to reggae music. One night there was a beach party for the resort it was fun. They had tikki torches lit all over the beach, with a live reggae band. In my opinion, Jamaicans are the happiest people on earth. We took a day trip to the Bob Marley area. The hillsides in Jamaica are green and lush. The old farms and villages are something to see. We spent a few days doing boat tours. A diving and snorkeling trip and of course the booze cruise. Saw Mick Jaggers house on the hill. Dunns Rivers Falls is a must see. At night they had a Piano Player play tunes and take requests. This was fun because everyone sings along. Went to the spa a few times, loved it, nice to be relaxed in paradise. Travelling with our Point To Point Destinations RCI Points program gives us so many options that shortly after becoming members my husband and I made a plan. The plan was not to go back to the same place twice. Before Jamaica this was the plan. But, I fell in love with the people there and the “No problem Mon!” way of life. The way of life in Jamaica is different from our crazy busy lives.

When I walked into the airport when we were leaving, all of the sudden, my eyes started to form tears. I was tearing up thinking OMG we are never going to come back here. That was when my husband and I decided to rethink our plan of not going back to the same place twice.

We made that plan when we first became members of Point To Point Destinations 7 yrs ago. After Jamaica we agreed on a new plan. Our plan now is to go back to Jamaica in a few years. This time we may go to Negril but we will still stop by Ocho Rios Sandals Resort and see a few friends we made for life.
